RAKSHA BAN DHAN

He was struggling to make both the ends meets, he hold one and pulled back the other.........it slipped and run through the wrist and felled on the counter,he picked up and tried again.

In my village there is no separate shop for everything, one of the corners of the shop was decorated with rakhi, half of the dozens were on my wrist extending a hand holding a ten rupee note,my father gave it me to buy two fevi sticks,I had went to the shop pondering whether it adds plastic with mirror or not.

again he failed in tying the knot,my eyes scanned him in a wink he had worn well washed unironed old clothes,,a straight line covered by black and white hair were lying on one side of his head,his plastic shoes were almost lost in mud,a rally of people's coming and going were running in the background,and when it stopped for a while shopkeeper asked "what you want"? It took my mind back to the shop "two fevi stick" words what slipped from my tongue, and the too the thread from his wrist.

I asked him "should I tie"?
he bowed his hand towards me without saying a single word, a surge of happiness took a smile on his face and some drops in his eyes too,those were the gift for me,shopkeeper threw the fevi stick which stopped skidding to our hands, his hand rushed to pick the ten-rupee note,which I had kept on the counter, it was pinched in shopkeepers hand from another side,his desire was steeper that the shopkeeper had to loosen his hand amid fear of getting it teared,he placed the note back to my hand,with instructing the shopkeeper "dare not to take it back I will pay you".

he kept his rakhi tied hand on my shoulder and asked to keep it,a sudden smell of alcohol came with those words, I didn't want to let those eye drops convert into tears.

I back to my home keeping fevi sticks and those ten rupee note and many more things,thinking does fevi stick add relations too?
